This autobiographical work reflects on memories of the artist's favorite party promoter during her teen years. The party promoter was named Lamonte. He threw classy cabarets marketed towards Hampton University and other Black college students in the area. On Martin Luther King day in 1993, he was the artist's first friend to die. He was shot and killed by out-of-towners that he didn't let into the party.
